Residential metal roofing contractors for Vancouver Island homes.
SnapLock standing-seam metal roofing for homes, cabins and additions in Campbell River, Courtenay, Comox and surrounding North and Central Vancouver Island communities.
Metal roofing built around the home, not just the panel.
A good residential metal roof is a complete system. We plan the tear-off, roof deck, underlayment, panel layout, penetrations, valleys and trim together so the finished roof is clean, practical and properly detailed.
Sun & Snow Roofing installs residential metal roofing on re-roofs, cedar shake conversions, additions and new construction. We work throughout Campbell River, Courtenay and Comox Valley, with additional service across North and Central Vancouver Island.
Concealed fastening with clean, continuous roof lines.
SnapLock is the standing-seam system we commonly recommend when a homeowner wants the durability and appearance of a concealed-fastener metal roof.
The primary panel fasteners are hidden beneath the seams instead of being driven through the exposed face of the panels. That removes exposed field screws and sealing washers as the main panel fastening point while creating the crisp vertical seams associated with standing-seam roofing. Like any roof, normal inspection and maintenance still matter.
Tear-off & inspection
Remove the existing roofing as required and inspect the exposed deck and roof conditions before the new system goes on.
Roof deck & underlayment
Provide a sound substrate and install underlayment appropriate for the selected metal roofing assembly and roof details.
Panels & concealed fastening
Lay out, cut and install SnapLock standing-seam panels with concealed primary panel fastening.
Trim & flashings
Complete ridge, rake, eave, valley, wall and penetration details for a finished roofing system.

Replacing cedar shakes with standing-seam metal roofing.
Older cedar roofs often require more than simply covering the existing surface. Our conversion scope can include full cedar shake removal, inspection of the exposed roof structure, new sheathing where required, appropriate underlayment, and the complete metal roof system.
This gives the new panels a consistent substrate and lets problem areas be identified before they disappear beneath the finished roof.
Durable pre-painted steel for Vancouver Island conditions.
We predominantly use Cascadia Metals products for our metal roofing work. Their Canadian SMP pre-painted steel is used for applications including residential roofing and agricultural buildings.
Cascadia states that SMP paint systems typically come with a standard 40-year limited warranty, although the exact warranty length and coverage can vary by paint manufacturer. Manufacturer coverage is separate from Sun & Snow Roofing's workmanship coverage.
Choose the system that fits your home and long-term plan.

What is SnapLock standing-seam metal roofing?
SnapLock is a concealed-fastener metal roofing system. The primary panel fasteners are hidden beneath the panel seams, giving the roof clean lines while keeping the main field fasteners protected from direct weather exposure.
Is SnapLock different from exposed-fastener metal roofing?
Yes. Exposed-fastener systems use screws and sealing washers through the face of the metal panels. SnapLock uses concealed panel fastening, so exposed field screws and washers are not the primary fastening system. Normal roof inspections and maintenance still apply to every roofing system.
Can you replace cedar shakes with a metal roof?
Yes. A cedar-to-metal conversion typically includes removing the existing shakes, inspecting the exposed roof structure and deck, installing or replacing roof sheathing where required, applying the appropriate underlayment, and installing the new metal panels and flashings.
How much does a residential metal roof cost on Vancouver Island?
Metal roof pricing depends on roof size, pitch, access, roof geometry, tear-off requirements, sheathing condition, metal profile and flashing details. We provide project-specific estimates after reviewing the roof and the system you want installed.
